Payment options and security deposit
Our community is built on trust and knowledge of our Members. The pieces rented at ORNEST are precious, our priority is to maintain their integrity as well as the satisfaction of our clients, renters and owners.
For this reason, we ask the renters to take care of them and we hold them responsible in the event of a dispute (damage, loss or theft).
The security deposit is an amount set aside by ORNEST which is charged in the event of a dispute. In the event of loss, theft or major deterioration, the renter's liability will be incurred beyond the security deposit, for the total value of the property. Find out more.
At the moment of reservation, we verify the authenticity of your credit card to validate the reservation and block the piece, but we do not charge any fees at this stage.
The rental fee will be charged and the security deposit will be blocked on your payment method 24 hours before the start of the rental. The security deposit will be blocked on your payment method for a period of 7 days.
The piece will only be shipped if the charge of the rental fee AND the blocking of the security deposit are accepted.
By default, the security deposit is not a debit, it is an amount blocked on the payment method for 7 days and then released if the rental goes well.
In the event of a dispute (loss, theft or damage), the security deposit is cashed, and will only be partially refunded if the amount of the repair costs is less than the security deposit. In other cases, an additional amount may be charged. Learn more.
The amount of the security deposit is set by our teams based on the value of the piece concerned.
The security deposit is charged in case of loss, theft or damage.
In the event of damage, the security deposit is provisionally cashed as soon as the damage is noted, and while waiting for the amount of the restoration costs to be assessed (in less than 72 hours). Once this assessment is available, several situations are possible:
- Repairable damage - the repair amount is less than the security deposit: the difference between the repair costs and the security deposit is refunded (in less than 48 hours).
- Repairable damage - the repair amount is greater than the security deposit: the security deposit is not refunded and additional costs are charged.
- Major damage - no repair is possible: the security deposit is not refunded and the difference between the replacement value of the piece and the security deposit is charged.
In the event of loss or theft, the security deposit is cashed and the renter is liable up to the replacement value of the piece. The difference between the replacement value of the piece and the security deposit is charged.
In the event of a return delay of more than 24 hours without notice from the renter to the Client Service, the piece is considered lost or stolen, the security deposit is cashed and the renter is liable up to the replacement value of the piece. In order for the rental to be confirmed and the piece to be sent, you must provide a credit card on which the rental fee and the security deposit can be authorized.
