In which situations can I lose my security deposit?
The security deposit is charged in case of loss, theft or damage.
In the event of damage, the security deposit is provisionally cashed as soon as the damage is noted, and while waiting for the amount of the restoration costs to be assessed (in less than 72 hours). Once this assessment is available, several situations are possible:
- Repairable damage - the repair amount is less than the security deposit: the difference between the repair costs and the security deposit is refunded (in less than 48 hours).
- Repairable damage - the repair amount is greater than the security deposit: the security deposit is not refunded and additional costs are charged.
- Major damage - no repair is possible: the security deposit is not refunded and the difference between the replacement value of the piece and the security deposit is charged.
In the event of loss or theft, the security deposit is cashed and the renter is liable up to the replacement value of the piece. The difference between the replacement value of the piece and the security deposit is charged.
In the event of a return delay of more than 24 hours without notice from the renter to the Client Service, the piece is considered lost or stolen, the security deposit is cashed and the renter is liable up to the replacement value of the piece. The difference between the replacement value of the piece and the security deposit is charged.
